215,000 cases cost Service Providers $27.8 Million in direct fines from the TIO

Australians made 167,955 new complaints to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) in 2009/10. A total of 215,000 cases were handled, costing the industry $27,785,004 in direct fines from the TIO (up from $25,924,500 in 20008/2009). Billing issues accounted for 26% of all complaints.
